HP Deskjet printer and a HP Photosmart Printer

11 December, 2008 (19:47) | Printers | By: cher

I need to get a new printer to be compatible with Windows Vista. Right now I have a all in one deskjet, and although I use it to print out documents, I also use it to print pictures. The print quality is ok. Will they come out better with a HP photosmart printer? What is the difference between the deskjet and the photosmart? Speed, quality, etc?  Which is the better choice?

If you mostly print photo quality shots from your digital camera, and you don’t need so much text printing, then go for HP Photosmart C6380 All-in-One Printer
. You will save some money with the model with the smaller LCD screen. These work well as a for quick prints from your digital camera. If you will be printing both text documents (email, letters, etc.) and the occasional photo, you will want the HP Deskjet F4280 All-in-One Printer, Scanner, Copier (CB656A)

Once you narrow your selection down to two, make sure you check the price of ink refills.  Some printers come at a very low price, but have very expensive refills.

The main difference is just that the photosmart is going to print better quality pictures, I don’t have one but from what I’ve heard they eat up ink like there’s no tommorow. But I know they print very high quality pictures. But pretty much any printer now days is going to be compatable with vista.

desk-jet printers are meant for everyday use there relatively inexpensive and are targeted to a novice user who just wants to print word processing documents, emails, the occasional photo (low quality), etc.

The Photosmart printers are generally more expensive than the deskjet printers. they typically hace a higher dpi (dots per square inch) than the deskjet, and because of the higher DPI they can produce higher quality images

Most have a LCD screen on the printer to view images
Most have a way to accept direct input from the cameras without a computer via the memory cards, some even have memory card slots which makes it very easy.

Hopes this helps
